چکیده

For a species to develop in nature basically two things are needed: an enabling technology and a “niche”. In spacecraft design the story is the same. Both a suitable technology and a niche application need to be there before a new generation of spacecraft can be developed. In the last century two technologies have emerged which had and still have a huge impact on the development of technical systems: MicroElectronics (ME) and Micro-Systems Technology (MST). Many different terrestrial systems have changed dramatically since the introduction of ME and MST and many new systems have emerged. In the same period many nano-satellites have been built and launched and shown that they can perform in space. Still it is not clear what the specific role of these small satellites will be. Where will they go? What will they do?

Three-axis optimal control of satellite attitude based on Ponteryagin maximum ‎principle‎

A long time ago, since the launch of the first artificial satellite in 1957, controling attitude of satellites has been considered by the designers and engineers of aerospace industry. Considering the importance of this issue various methods of control in response to this need have been presented and analyzed until now. In this paper, we propose and analyze a three-axis optimal control on the s...

Facies Relations and Emplacement Styles of Magmatic Bodies in N-Qazvin, Western Alborz

Lat-Blukan district situated on N-Qazvin and western Alborz zone contains various extrusive and intrusive bodies with Eocene age. They are divided into three main facies that are volcaniclastic deposits (including tuff, lapilli tuff, agglomerate, tuffaceous sandstone and shale and also the carbonate intercalations), the trachyandesitic lava flows and subvolcanic bodies (including dioritic bodie...

On the Reliability of Spacecraft Swarms

Satellite swarms, consisting of a large number of identical, miniaturized and simple satellites, are claimed to provide an implementation for specific space missions which require high reliability. However, a consistent model of how reliability and availability on mission level is linked to costand time-effective design of the individual swarm satellites has not yet been done. We have establish...

Cooperative Attitude Synchronization in Satellite Swarms: a Consensus Approach

The present paper considers the problem of autonomous synchronization of attitudes in a swarm of spacecraft. Building upon our recent results on consensus on manifolds, we model the spacecraft as particles on SO(3) and drive these particles to a common point in SO(3). Unlike the Euler angle or quaternion descriptions, this model suffers no singularities nor double-points. Our approach is fully ...
